The interest for diving specialists is to be able to train shooting from wet surfaces after infiltration, (immersed under oxygen, in a kayak or small boat).
It also allows divers to train for a change of environment, i.e. to go from water to land, while being in combat action since the shooting range offers a course going into the forest after targets placed on the bank.

After the closure of restaurants and cultural places in October 2020, a bookseller in the 13th arrondissement of Paris had an idea to break the gloom of the inhabitants of the district and the rare tourists: he repopulated the shops with giant teddy bears.

After many visits to the medieval village of Gruyères, HR Giger fell in love with this wondrous region. And when he heard from Etienne Chatton that the fortress structure further below, the Château St. Germain, was up for sale, the idea to establish his own museum and a Center of Fantastic Art was born: on September 11, 1997, he acquired the Château. With the help of the architect Roger Cottier, the former museum director Barbara Gawrysiak and the invaluable support of the many co-workers, the museum opened (most of its) doors on June 21, 1998.

Henri Launay created in 1964 the last sanctuary for doll of collection, in the 10th arrondissement of Paris.
This "doll doctor", self-taught surgeon of French porcelain dolls, always dressed in his white blouse, gives a second life to childhood memories.

In the 17th century, the plague raged in Lyon. Faced with this scourge, on September 8, 1643, feast of the Nativity of the Virgin, the provost of merchants (equivalent to the mayor) and his 4 aldermen (deputies), accompanied by a crowd of Lyonnais, went in procession to Fourvière.
It is in the Chapel of the Virgin that they vow to go up every year to hear mass, to offer 7 pounds of white wax and a gold shield, if Lyon is spared. Soon after, the evil recedes and their wish is granted.
Since that date, every September 8, the mayor of Lyon and elected officials go up to Fourvière to perpetuate this commitment and the Archbishop blesses the city with the Blessed Sacrament.

The history of the Paris Catacombs starts in the eighteenth century. Starting in 1809, the Catacombs were opened to the public. In the late eighteenth century, when major public health problems tied to the city’s cemeteries led to a decision to transfer their contents to an underground site. Paris authorities chose an easily accessible site that was, at the time, located outside the capital: the former Tombe-Issoire quarries under the plain of Montrouge. The first evacuations were made from 1785 to 1787 and concerned the largest cemetery in Paris, the Saints-Innocents cemetery.
